    TUESDAY - THURSDAY, JULY 20-22, 2021 SESSION ONE: 9 A.M. – 12 P.M. OR SESSION TWO: 1:30 P.M. – 4:30 P.M. Join us on a three-day cooking adventure through the pages of some popular children’s books. We’ll explore some “hot” topics from fire breathing dragons, discover what happens when you give breakfast food to farm animals, and put up an umbrella when the weather gets a bit messy.

    The 2021 Miami County 4-H BBQ will be on Saturday, July 17, 2021.  The meal will be a drive-thru/carryout from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  Tickets are $9.00 each and you will have the option of a chicken or pork chop meal.  Each meal will come with your choice of meat, applesauce, potato chips, roll with butter, cookie and bottled water.

    Join us for our monthly food series, GROBucks. The next session will focus on herbs from the garden.  Extension staff will highlight some common herbs you can grow in the garden, how to care for them, harvest them and use them in delicious dishes. Each paid registrant will receive a pair of herb shears.    More information here

    Join us for our new monthly food series, GROBucks. The fourth virtual session will focus on pests in the garden. Gardeners often encounter pests in the garden but do you know if they are good or bad? Beneficial or detrimental? Extension staff will highlight some common garden pests, share strategies to manage them, and help you determine whether they are beneficial to your garden. Then, we’ll show you how to use a common vegetable in some new and unique ways in some unique ways in cooking, demonstrate preparing foods, and share recipes for you to try at home.

    4/19/21          Maker Monday – by Kelly Royalty Activity:  Upcycled perch bird feeder/ Backyard Bird Observation Worksheet    Additional Social Media Post: SPRING INTO SCIENCE – ECO APRIL - EARTH TAKE ACTION TIP:  Upcycling is to reuse discarded objects or materials to create a product of higher quality or value than the original item. Use 2-liter bottles, milk jugs/cartons, peanut butter jars and other items found around your house to build a bird feeder, instead of buying one.  This will prevent plastics, from going to our landfills.

    Spend Sunday Outdoors –by  Jessica George Activity:               Take a Hike/ Outdoor Scavenger Hunt SPRING INTO SCIENCE – ECO APRIL - CITIZEN SCIENCE CHALLENGE:  Use the Global Earth Challenge app to gather critical environmental data while on your scavenger hunt or during your day-to-day life. This app is available on Android or iOS devices and allows you to gather important air quality and plastic pollution data near you.
