Western Ohio Precision Ag Day will be held on July 12, 2016 in Covington, Ohio hosted by Miami and Darke County Extension. The day will begin at the Covington Eagles, 715 East Broadway Street, Covington OH 45318 and will then be continued on a local farm.
This year’s theme will be Precision Placement Opportunities, with a focus on nutrients and the 4R’s. The morning sessions will include manure application timing and placement, starter fertilizer options for P and N, mid to late season applications along with placement options, and uses of drone imagery for fine-tuning in-season nutrient and fungicide decisions. The day's agenda will meet all requirements for the Ohio Department of Agriculture’s full 3-hour Fertilizer Applicator Certification & Training a.k.a. “fert-cert”. Demos of interest may include – strip banding or injection of nutrients; high clearance applicators for N; starter options on planters, and other nutrient management equipment. These demonstrations will be dictated by sponsorships.
The program will be free but registration is required by July 8 for an accurate lunch count.
